You need to be sure that you will feel at home and that it is a place you can grow, both academically and personally, therefore joining a University like this one confers privilege, prestige, and unique opportunity; but it also comes with important responsibilities.
 |
These responsibilities can be summed up in three simple words: "scholarly”, “Leadership, and citizenship." Being a scholar requires true engagement in the academic inquisition both inside the classroom, in the lecture theatre and in the broader understanding of the universe of ideas; Being a leader means developing your emotional intelligence, renewing your relationships and sustaining your effectiveness and it also requires vision and courage and having the capacity to mobilize the energy towards improving the quality of life: a good citizen requires that you make a positive impact in your world; this can be in any form ; in your respective communities, in your field of study, or with your peers. . .
One way to engage yourself in the world of ideas is to take full advantage of the brilliant minds you will find around you at CUZ undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty members, and other stakeholders. Therefore you may never again be in the company of so many bright and creative people working at such a high level in different disciplines as your at CUZ will expose you to.
I wish to assure you that your decision to enroll with us is an important step towards realising your ambition of becoming a professional in your field. I hope that you will take full advantage of this dynamic place and time in your life. Most members of staff are eager to engage you and hear your views, so take time to visit them during Office hours to discuss your needs. You are likely to find that these one-on-one talks become some of the most memorable academic experiences of your University years later on.
