The Health Professions Council of Zambia (HPCZ) formerly Medical Council of Zambia, has approved Cavendish University Zambia School of Medicine (CUZ SoM) as a training institution offering Programmes for medical Practitioners. In a letter written to the institution, the Registrar of HPCZ Dr M. Zulu confirmed that CUZ has been granted a Provisional License, to deliver Medical Degrees and other related Programmes.

The approval follows an inspection, by the HPCZ officials on the CUZ SoM Munali Campus Premises, in accordance with the Health Professions Act. No 24 of 2009 of the Laws of Zambia. CUZ Deputy Vice Chancellor in Charge of Administration and also the Dean of Medical School– Professor Sekelani Banda explained that CUZ now has legal permission to train doctors.

“The graduates of CUZ can register with the Health Professions Council of Zambia, which is a legal requirement to practice medicine in Zambia” he said.
