MASTERS OF LAW [LL.M]

QUALIFICATION:MASTERS OF LAW [LL.M]

DURATION: 24 Months

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:

To be eligible for admission to the Master of Laws programme an applicant must:

  • Possess a first degree in law (LLB) from CUZ or another University or an equivalent qualification from any recognized University.
  • Show a level of proficiency which, in the opinion of the board of studies of the School of Law makes it likely that the applicant will succeed in their studies.
  • With the approval of the Board of Studies of the Faculty of law may require an applicant as a condition of admission to undergo tests as the Board may prescribe.

Postgraduate study in law is very challenging but at the same time extremely rewarding.  An LL.M will not only help you advance your academic credentials and allow you to specialise in a specific area(s) of law, it will also make you stand out in a competitive job market.

PROGRAMME STRUCTURE:

The LLM programme is a full time course of study worth 180 credits. It is composed of 6 x 20 credit taught modules (120 credits) and a dissertation (60 credits). The programme is delivered over 3 terms of 11 weeks.
All students in Terms 1 and 2, follow a common set of modules (80 credits). In Term 3, students can choose two modules from any pathway. There are 4 pathways from which to choose. Once they have completed all the taught modules, the students will progress to their dissertation. The dissertation topic will be pathway specific.

  1. Public International Law and International Economic Law
  2. Competition Law and Policy.
  3. Business Law
  4. Constitutionalism

Pathways

(Students may choose two modules from the four (4) pathway options.)

  1. Cohort A. Public International Law
  2. Cohort B. Competition Law
  3. Cohort C. Business Law
  4. Cohort D. Constitutionalis
